In 2025, runners pushed themselves to the limit with 26 loops completed. It became the Backyard Ultra with the highest female participation in Portugal, and to make it even more special, the assist with 25 loops was achieved by a woman. The day was fresh and mild… but this year, the Alentejo heat may arrive to make things even tougher.

In the heart of the Alentejo, where golden plains stretch as far as the eye can see, lies Vila Verde de Ficalho, a small and welcoming village near the Spanish border. Here, a true test of endurance awaits: the Ficalho Backyard Ultra.

This is a battle of resilience, run on a dirt trail loop with 75 meters of elevation gain, winding through the rugged yet beautiful Alentejo landscape. As the hours pass, exhaustion grows and the May heat can become a relentless opponent.

But this race is more than physical strength. The Backyard format demands patience, strategy, and unshakable determination. The goal? Only one will remain: the last runner to complete a loop within the time limit.

Between loops, the support area becomes a place of camaraderie, where athletes share their struggles and victories, embraced by the warmth of the local community.

Are you ready to face the Alentejo, the heat, and – above all – your own limits?
