GRASSROOTS BACKYARD ULTRA
June 27, 2026 | Okotoks, Alberta
Ready to find out just how far you can go?
The 2026 GrassRoots Backyard Ultra is back for its fifth year—and it’s gearing up to be our biggest one yet. Taking place just 20 minutes south of Calgary in the beautiful town of Okotoks, this race is the perfect mix of challenge, community, and pure grit.
The course? A 6.71 km loop that hugs the scenic Sheep River—mostly paved path. With just 34m of gain, it’s flat, fast, and fully runnable—designed for Backyarders to push the limits. And push they have: 40% of our 2025 runners hit 15+ loops (that’s 100km for those counting).
This isn’t just a race. It’s a test of determination, mindset, and sheer willpower.
Got what it takes to be the Last Person Standing? You’ll be chasing the course record of 35 loops, set by Preston Schaffer in 2024. Could 2026 be the year it falls?
The countdown is on.
The challenge is calling.
