No course records. No targets to chase. No local legends, yet.
Whether you’re aiming for seven yards or the win, this is your chance to set the bar and become the name future runners are chasing.
The Format
Run 4.167 miles every hour, on the hour
Finish in time? You go again
Miss the bell or fail to complete the yard? You’re out
The race continues until one person completes a solo yard
Only one runner finishes. Everyone else earns a DNF
Day Start
The race begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
Unlike Dover and Vigo, Sholden has just one yard — and it’s flat.
The Course
The yard is a wide, flat out-and-back on gravel trail.
There’s just 8 metres of elevation per yard, making this the flattest in the series — but don’t let that fool you. Pacing and mental discipline matter here more than ever.
Expect a sociable route with great visibility and space to run alongside others.
The yard is clearly marked and built for consistent effort, just as a Backyard should be.

Every yard you complete adds to your series total.
The highest mileage across all four rounds wins the Black Buckle.
