This is the first-ever Kent Backyard Ultra Series event.
No course records. No benchmarks. No legacy.
Whether you’re aiming for seven laps or the win, this is your chance to set the bar.

The Format

  • Run 4.167 miles every hour, on the hour

  • Finish in time? You go again

  • Miss the bell or fail to complete the loop? You’re out

  • The race continues until one person completes a solo yard

Only one runner finishes. Everyone else earns a DNF

Night Start

The race begins at 9:00 PM on Friday, straight into darkness.
You’ll start on the night loop and switch to the day loop at sunrise.

The Course

A mix of flat woodland gravel trails and muddy forest tracks.
The route winds through Trosley Country Park and sections of the North Downs Way.
Both loops are clearly marked and designed to wear you down slowly, just as a Backyard should.

Format Options

  • Full Backyard Ultra – Go as far as you can

  • 7 Hour Challenge – Same format, capped at 7 laps (28.5 miles)

  • Series Pass – Entry to all four KBUS rounds, save £60, and receive bonus perks

Entry Fees

  • Full Backyard Ultra: £115

  • 7 Hour Challenge: £75

  • Series Pass (All 4 Rounds): £400

Awards

  • Kent Backyard Ultra Medal = 1 or more yards

  • Bronze Buckle = 24 yards

  • Silver Buckle = Assist (2nd place)

  • Gold Buckle = Last One Standing

  • Black Buckle = Most cumulative yards across the series

The 2025/26 Series

  • Round One -14 November 2025 – Vigo

  • Round Two – 10 January 2026 – Dover

  • Round Three – 7 March 2026 – Sholden

  • Round Four – 26 June 2026 – TBC

Every yard you complete adds to your series total.
Highest mileage across all four rounds wins the Black Buckle.

Mandatory Kit (Checked at registration)

  • Waterproof jacket with taped seams

  • Headtorch (minimum 300 lumens)

  • Spare batteries or second light source

  • Trail shoes with appropriate grip

  • Reusable bottle or cup

  • Sufficient food to fuel your effort

No kit = no start.
