Your worst nightmare is back again in 2026. The Prairie Nightmare will be run on the weekend of Aug 15/16. THIS DATE IS TENTATIVE

The race is on a 6.7km trail loop running through Echo Valley Provincial Park (Qu’Appelle Valley, Saskatchewan). The course is flat, runnable, and non-technical, consisting of hardpack trail, grass, and a wee bit of gravel road.

We started this with a group of ultra runners who wanted an in-person event during Covid-19 pandemic. We had 19 runners. We literally raced out of a backyard, out and back, on gravel roads. In 2021 we decided to expand and moved to a provincial park with a good network of trails. With no advertising other than word of mouth, and not allowing out of province racers (again due to Covid-19), we had 51 runners. We have gone again, and again, and again, and now look to 2026 to have our biggest turnout yet!

The race has options for those looking to dip their toes into backyard ultras and for those wanting to dive straight in! Onsite camping available for the weekend. (small surcharge)

Thanks!
