Running in the Limpopo Bushveld is an experience… Combining it with a true Backyard Ultra format with an amazing partner like PSG Insure as main sponsor, is making this an event to desire. From the lovely park of Emmerentia Geldenhuis just outside of Bela Bela the circuit takes you through the bushveld on farming dirtroads for 6,7km.
Athletes will have different options to enter for, and there is something for just about everyone wether you first want to come test the waters and experience the concept on a smaller scalee, or jump in and really test your ability to perform hour after hour. From a 1 yard (1 loop / 1 hour) of 6.7km, to 3 yards (3loops / 3 hours) or 6 yards (6 loops / 6 hours) right through to the big momma, the unlimited event where we we as organisers will be there to spur you on – motivate you – push you, to go “JUST ONE MORE LOOP”. And the repetition button will be glued in so we make sure you really go beyond what you thought your own body and mind was capable of.
So, you have 60 minutes to complete 6.7km and whatever time you have in reserve after completion, is yours to recover, eat, powernap, etc., but on top of the hour you have to be back to start the new hour once again. This is a ‘last man standing wins’ design, so everyone else gets a DNF(Did Not Finish). All you get is a little token to remind you of the grit and determination you showed on the day that clearly shows “DNF”. If you are not back in time for the start of the next hour, you DNF. The last person standing, if we do have one, gets a beautifully crafted plate with the Waterberg Backyard Ultra Last Man Standing confirmation on it.
